Liberty Mutual Re (LM Re), the expert reinsurance practice of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Vincent Gilardi as Senior Underwriter for International Casualty.
Based in the business’s Paris office, Gilardi takes up his new role with immediate effect. He reports to Eric Sugier, Liberty Mutual Re’s Head of Europe and MENA.
Gilardi’s remit covers business emanating from Southern Europe and the broader Mediterranean region, including Israel but excluding Spanish and Portuguese reinsurance business which will continue to be underwritten from Liberty Mutual Re’s Madrid office. He will work closely with LM Re’s underwriters in Europe to develop solutions for our clients in the region. A particular area of focus will be Italy, where LM Re opened a new office in 2018.
In Italy Gilardi will support the LM Re reinsurance offering with Massimiliano Fantini, General Manager for Reinsurance based in Milan. Massimiliano has brought to Liberty Mutual Re significant depth of knowledge of the Italian market since his arrival in July 2018 and the arrival of Gilardi builds on the successful launch and further strengthens LM Re’s offering in Italy.

Prior to joining LM Re, Gilardi was Casualty Senior Underwriter & Market Lead for XL Catlin in Paris, where he worked for over 12 years. He previously held roles with Axis Capital and Partner Re.
